Xamk

Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences (Kyamk) and Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Mamk) merged on the beginning of 2017.

The name of the new university of applied sciences is South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk). Xamk is an innovative higher education institution driven by the idea of unlimited lifelong learning and study.

The passion to learn is not bound to time, place or method – it is a way of looking at the world. We promote well-being and sustainable development through global networking and by creating new digital solutions.

The strategic objective is to be among the top five universities of applied sciences in Finland as regards student satisfaction, the organisation of studies and graduates’ employment rate.

One of the goals is to be the largest Finnish university of applied sciences in terms of RDI activities and education provided through the Open University of Applied Sciences.

The new university of applied sciences wants to be a strong and responsible partner that fully exploits its geographical location.

Full-time studies leading to a bachelor-level degree last 3.5-4 years (210-240 ECTS).

You can apply to study for a master’s degree if you have a degree from a university of applied sciences or another higher education degree plus at least three years of work experience in the relevant field of study. Studies in a master-level degree programme take 2.5 years (90 ECTS).

Open UAS

Anyone interested in studying may take Open UAS courses, regardless of age and previous education. Open UAS studies do not lead to a degree but may be recognised as prior learning if you become a degree student in the same field of study. Students may choose individual courses or larger modules (study paths).

Xamk has four modern campuses located in Kymenlaakso end Southern Savonia regions. Campuses are  conveniently located in the town centre or nearby.

The range of services on campus is wide: restaurants, cafés, libraries, indoor and outdoor sport and leisure facilities, as well as services to promote studying and student well-being.

The learning environments – classrooms, auditoriums, laboratories, workshops, etc. – are modern and comfortable. In addition to providing education, all campuses engage in a diverse range of research and development activities and provide services.
